Sat, 30th Oct 2021: Rydal & Grasmere from Ambleside
🍂 Overview of the walk:
A beautiful circular valley walk which will take us from Ambleside, past Rydal Water, through Grasmere village and round Grasmere Lake, looping back round the other side of Rydal Water and back into Ambleside. The walk is suitable for intermediate level walkers with average to good fitness and ability.
Total distance: 14km (8.75m)
Total ascent: 170m (558ft)
Approx walking time: 3.5 hrs
⏰ Meeting Time: 10am - please don’t be late!
🚘 Meeting place: Entrance of Rydal Road Car Park, (near the Public Toilets!)

There are several other car parks in Ambleside https://rb.gy/dp43vi however, do bear in mind that they are likely to be busy as it’s half term, so try to get there early. Most take cash or card payments or the PaybyPhone app.
We should be back at the car park at around 3.30-4pm and plan to go for a drink to warm us all up at one of the many local pubs.
🥾 What to wear: sturdy walking boots or shoes, comfortable walking socks, breathable top layers, hat & gloves, waterproof jacket and bring waterproof trousers if you have them - we all know how quickly the weather can change in the Lake District!
🎒 What to bring: sandwiches/picnic lunch and snacks and plenty of water to drink. An extra layer/fleece and a spare pair of socks. All packed in a comfortable backpack. Walking poles are useful if you have them. A fully charged mobile phone

🌳 Memorial for Richard and hightea at Dunham Forest on Sunday 31st of October 🌳
A few logistics updates for this event:
The large private room will be open and ready for us as of 1.30 pm, so don’t hesitate to arrive early.
Tributes to Richard will start at 3pm sharp, chaired by Derek Wax, in the presence of Rabbi Lisa Barrett, until around 5pm.
Access code the gate in Dunham is 2020. Dress code is casual chic.
We will be around 50 guests. The windows and doors will be left open at all times to ensure a good air circulation and sanitizors will be available at each entrance.

25th Oct - 29th Oct: Enjoying the Lakes a few days before the walk
Annie, Adrien, Laura, the Herman family, Victor Bentata and daughter, will be staying in the Lake District for a few days before the walk.
You are most welcome to join us to enjoy walks and family and friends informal get-togethers.
Annie, Adrien, Laura (from Monday 25th Oct), Victor (from Wednesday 27th Oct) are staying at The Hyning Estate, The Herman family (from Thursday 28th Oct) will be staying at The Black Bull.
